My colleague John Walcott and his team at Knight Ridder Washington were the only major media organization to tell the truth about what was going on in the runup to the Iraq War (no WMD, etc).

We went on to spend more that $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars in Iraq with active fighting until 2010. (Does not include the $2 trillion or so spent in Afghanistan.)

There are still American soldiers in Iraq, 22 years after the invasion.

'I've seen this movie before' doesn't do the moment justice. An utterly dysfunctional national security decision making apparatus; fourth raters, lick-spittles and clowns in crucial cabinet-level jobs; a newly installed senior military command unsure of itself, buffaloed by its loudest voices, and frightened of its CinC; a GOP that is now GOC, i.e., a group of cowards, mewling nonsense and unwilling to confront their omnipotent overlord; and a president whose delusions, ignorance, and apparent mental decline are reflected in increasingly psychotic l'etat c'est moi' declarations about going to war. Disaster movie? Nope. It's a disaster whether or not we Trump launches a strike...
